As Recore's second release, ‘Soul Search' starts to show the label's diverse nature. [Aura]'s dark and dubbed out sounds reflect a more cutting edge style of music, trying and succeeding in pushing the boundaries with the production. With this being his first release for Recore, [Aura] delivers quality throughout, and as the title implies, the tracks reflect a conscious effort to find himself and his musical direction. Whether this EP shows his true end goal or just lies on the path to his sound, we can only wait and find out, however it is certain that there is true talent here and we can only look forward to more from this young artist. ‘Moments ft. Matt Baily' starts the release off, with a mix of eerie synths and knocks, the track builds with a catchy acidic riff and mesmerizing bassline. A true peak hour track, to excite many a dancefloor! Markus Homm then delivers us a quality of remix that we have become accustomed to from the producer. Cutting up the original percussive elements, he has stripped the sound back whilst slowly bringing in the recognizable riff that is the essence of the original. Both Flashback and Unknown Destination show the more ‘B-side' sound that Recore has and will be pushing in releases to come. Very much more downbeat and dubbed out, both tracks have a true all round appeal. ‘Flashback' uses a beautiful little vocal sample to pick out key points throughout a mix of house percussion and acidic elements, whereas ‘Unknown Destination' builds a melodic piano riff throughout its house styled peaks and troughs. Early support from Robert Dietz, Brothers Vibe, Leon, Nick Curly, MANIK, Andrew Grant, Ruthit and Laura Jones to name but a few...
