DESCRIPTION:
Bill Youngman shows a deeper side of himself on the latest instalment of Snork Enterprises sub label "Relax 2000". Having honed his production skills over a 10 year production career which featured collaborations with Tobias Schmidt, Cristian Vogel and of course long term partner in crime Neil Landstrumm, Youngman takes a break from his usual fare of experimental electro and Techno to unleash his own unique take on slower and groovier styles that have become prevalent in recent times. Youngman debuted on John Selway's "Seretonin" imprint in 1996, and has gone on to release his material on many different labels including the legendary Tresor Records. Quality always over quantity, Youngman always seems to raise the bar with every release. Whilst many acts seem to want to release as many records as possible, banging out repetitions of a formulae which was previously successful, this is an artist who would rather hold back material until completely sure that it truly is worthy of release. Mr Youngman now gives us 3 reasons why we should give up and stick our music making machines on E bay! A: Bass in your face, Berlin! "Beamer" kicks off the proceedings, with some heavy 808 style action, very likely to make your vision blurred on the dance floor. The funky, razor sharp percussion then drops, followed by analogue bleeps, burps, Chicago styled pseudo-cowbells and vocal samples. A break mid track showcases some stunning sound design until the boomboomboom returns with a vengeance! B1: "Lightpipe" takes an abstract synth loop, and wraps it with driving bass drums and hat hisses. Triplet DX synth intertwines the arrangement like a centipede, old school tom toms turn the funk up to level 5. B2: "2009" pushes the groove onwards, but then unexpectedly introduces raw bass tones, swirling processed vocals, and reverb driven atmospheres. As ever, the quality and style from Youngman stands out a mile, and never has it been more relevant yet unique. supported by Syntax Error, Mark Hawkins, Norman
