DESCRIPTION:
A sample is a small part of the whole, selected because it's a premier example of its class. The Gamma Sampler sees Stroboscopic Artefacts collect together four cuts that take you from the dance floor right into the ether. It starts resolutely dance floor as Dino Sabatini and Gianluca Meloni under their Modern Heads moniker open with the brilliantly constructed "1969". The track forms a perfect arc. It begins with pared-down bass, opens out as melody surfaces from deep below, stretches upwards as synth patterns bubble into being, before the other side of the curve elegantly returns to the origin. Despite such attention to detail "1969" refuses to be dainty and remains utterly raw techno. The second track "Fade" comes from New York's Donor. Full of offkilter, swung bass lines, its distinctly strange sound seems to harbour more than a drop of contempt. There's a definite dub influence and sticky, molasses sub sounds lend a deep, deep undercarriage. Abstract Souls, the collaboration between Claudio Mate and Roberto Bosco, unleash "Abstract Subway" full of swishing, swooping patterns. As if sampling the act of perception itself, it‘s blurred, charcoaled black but flecked with colour. The result is a sooty and club-ready serum. The sampler is closed by Claudio PRC's "Aphelion" which seems to transpose the sound of a planet when its orbit has curled far from the sun. The sounds are icily elliptical and somehow impossibly celestial. "Aphelion" is stunning IDM and concludes the sampler with the definite need to pause for thought. DJS (Magazines below) Silent Servant Solid Release. This new Sampler is fucking awesome! All tracks are strong, but 1969 & Abstract subway are standouts for me. will chart for sure. Peter Van Hoesen Superb release, once again. All four tracks have strong identities. Personal favs are the Modern Heads and Abstract Souls tracks. Claudio PRC Huge release! Strong concept, true music and really interesting artist! One of the best compilation so far! Estroe Strong release with decent techno. My favourites are 1969 and Abstract Subway. Will try them out in my sets. Phil Kieran loving this !!!! stephan bodzin 1969! Kevin Gorman love the claudio ambient track! MAGAZINES AND RADIOS Todd Burns - Resident Advisor "Fade" is a really subtle piece of work, but has a beautiful propulsion to it that gives you enough reason to listen long enough to hear it reveal itself. "Aphelion," meanwhile, is fantastic. I wish more labels would be interested (or brave enough) to release material like this. It's a drone, but has a complexity to it that I think is quite rare for music operating in the same space. Music to get lost to at home and for DJs with gigs on Mars. Dave Volkaerts – Nightcode Magazine (Belgium) Very diverse release, from peaktime Techno to experimental electronica. Review for NightCode Magazine here: http://www.nightcode.be/nl/reviews/17640_gamma-sampler/. Tsugi Magazine (FR) really really like 1969. Pick of the pack ! Eric Cloutier - Resident Advisor / The Bunker hard to pick a winner when all of them are so interesting sounding, but i'm going to go with donor's "fade" on this one. nice collection of heady beats we have here! Ill-ec-tro-nic Another great release! Nice cohesive package but Abstract Subway & 1969 are standouts. Will feature with a review. Denis Martellozzo - Electro-Nation.be Is Stroboscopic Artefacts the new Ostgut Ton? It's dark, it seems to be a Berghain track...but it comes from Italy and a little bit from New York! Defenitely HUGE! Stroboscopic Artefacts is becoming one of the greatest new label of the year. ELECTRO-NATION full support! R.Fm 1969 - Love it! Berlin Mitte Institut Nice release ! Klubbers FM Stroboscopic always makes very nice eps!!! deep techno for inteligent listeners.... love it!!!!! Dinamo FM Fantastic label. Keeps my eyes open! I dig! Full support. Berlin FM for radio play, thanks. Altroverso Radio Airplay in Altroverso
