After our sumptous dinner in San Francisco with Mr. Alland Byallo's fantasies, we come quickly to our current ungoverned Belgian basement, where local live duo « Malistix » has been busy making some music (instead of after hours for a change!).Indeed, these two homeboys just don't care much about anything else a part from the share of music. But when they make it to the studio, it's not to just play around with some loops. That is what we thought when we signed them for « The Change », one of our without any doubt best-aging vinyl references, where they already showed us some low pitched, old school analog manners. With the present « Don't Play It » EP, the story continues with output covering a wider BPM range. After a tripping « Bô » opening the tracklist with downbeat landscapes, things get moving with « I don't play it » and « Nice People Go To Hell », before rounding things up with a funky « Freedom » track, directly inspirared from one of Richie Haven's improvisational interludes at Woodstock Festival. All tracks show an interesting combination of analog and digital recording techniques, together with an skillfull instrumental playing.Grooves for an upcoming and so-awaited Summer, so, in Belgian ungoverned humor : don't play them!
