DESCRIPTION:
With a diverse selection of tools and skills at his disposal, Guy Mantzur has experienced multitude of worldwide success in recent years. Guy released his self-titled debut album under his more-recognized "Smooth" moniker on Chicago's Real Estate Records in late-2003 to much acclaim. An appropriately smooth blend of trip-hop, downtempo and soft grooves, several tracks from the album have been licensed for a wide assortment of projects including numerous compilation CDs and soundtracks for well-known TV shows (Six Feet Under, Roswell, Nip/Tuck and many others). Guy is also applying his talent for lush soundscapes for film soundtrack composition, with several projects on the horizon. The soon to be released follow-up album to Guy Mantzur titled "Thin Skin" sees him applying an even wider set of tricks and influences, utilizing a heavy element of live instrumentation in crafting an album giving sublime moments both for relaxation and those special moments on the dancefloor. One of the rising stars in the burgeoning Israeli dance scene, Zi Abre – better known as Shlomi Aber – has come to prominence in the last year as one of the regions most in-demand and heavily-played producers. His combination of bouncy grooves and captivating synths have earned him spots on many of the leading outlets for forward-thinking electronic music, including Renaissance, Audio Therapy, Cocoon Recordings, Alternative Route and many more to come. Shlomi's tracks can be heard in the sets of many of the prime movers & shakers in the electronic scene. One of his most fruitful creative outlets is his collaborative effort with Israel's most recognizable electronic producer, Guy Gerber. Their latest release on Cocoon, "Sea of Sand", got massive dancefloor support in addition to being heavily licensed for a variety of compilations. With his knack for turning out massive floor-rocking tunes, there is no question that Zi Abre is the ideal match for PLATTENBANK's debut release. As the perfect dancefloor-oriented A-side, "City Lights (Zi Abre Clicky Mix)" shows the minimalistic crunchy side of Shlomi's remixing skills. Hints of the vocals of the original version cleverly surf through the masterfully assembled sparse structure. As the track slyly builds to its subtle peak, overdriven synths coalesce with vocal elements to form a shrewdly emotional high point. Unique in its construction and combination of influences, this mix will undoubtedly stand out as a memorable experience on any dancefloor. Sweltering in a sexy ambiance "City Lights" draws strongly on a retro synthpop-flavored groove while layering an assortment of modern production tricks, pads and stabs to formulate a truly individual foray into electronics. The sizzling vocals mesh perfectly with the feel of the underlying music in molding a decidedly picturesque gem of a composition that is all too rarely discovered. "City Lights (Dub Edit)" keeps all of the sultry feel of the original mix, but strips the vocals down to an abstractly echoed hint of their original presence. More of a dancefloor tool than the original, this edit is an ideal device for adding a bit of retro-flavored electro flare to the night.
