"Die Bank" is the largest bar in Munich, well known for its unique indie style and the countless talented DJs who got their start as well as the famous Munich DJs who regularly entertain its crowds. It has a capacity of 500 and is the host of many print and visual artists (with monthly gallery shows for local artists), independent fashion labels featured in its upstairs shop, a wide variety of electronic music which is played on a daily basis and perhaps most importantly the best pizza in town. Founded in 2007 by Yaniv Tal and Guy Mantzur, Plattenbank is the label of "Die Bank" For lucky number seven, Plattenbank pairs resident artist Guy Mantzur with legendary Tel Aviv-based DJ Sahar Z, longtime veteran of the global techno scene, for a pair of soulful, first-class tech-house tunes destined to make the rounds in coming months. A musician practically since taking his first breaths, Sahar Z has spent the last years of his life proving time and again his mastery of electronic music, first as a globetrotting DJ and more recently through his ever-increasing work in the studio. With his musical works already appearing on the most influential of labels, Sahar's forthcoming schedule includes a single on stalwart label Renaissance, which features collaborative efforts with both Audio Junkies and Guy Mantzur. Giving a taste of what this duo has to offer, Plattenbank delivers the first full offering from Guy and Sahar, who first teamed up to provide a remix of Guy's "Ten After Nine" release earlier in the year on Neurotraxx, and now put their soulful style filled with live instrumentals and funky grooves on display. The title track "Bubble Boy" keeps a lighthearted atmosphere as suggested by its name, following a slowly ascending melodic theme which glides effortlessly above the subtly leaping bass steering it from below. "Ultra Blonda" parades this duo's panache for funk-laden rhythms and talent for live arrangements, starting out as a simple work of tribal tech-house before a chorus of sliced and diced instrumental accompaniments works its way into the fold. Refusing to settle into any mundane sense of predictability, the song maintains its charmingly anarchic edge while still never losing grip of its cadenced percussive heart that will keep it circulating through the dancefloor.
