Syntax Error - Biography
In computer science a syntax error ( IPA: /'s?ntÊks ?r?(?)/ ) refers to an error in the syntax of a sequence of characters or tokens that is intended to be written in a particular programming language. The man behind Feinwerk, Snork Enterprises and Relax 2000, is Syntax Error, who is also known as Christian Schachta. He first established himself in the club scene of western Germany during the end of the nineties. Influenced originally by Psychedelic Trance and Drum 'n' Bass, a visit to the legendary Tresor club in Berlin switched his brain on to the abstract sounds of off kilter techno. Giessen had already proved itself to be a thriving breeding ground for left-field techno in Hessen, and in 2004 Christian gave the town it's first techno label ìFeinwerkî, it's first releases created by Paradroid, Aphorism Tag-Team and Christian himself. The label soon attracted the attention of such Techno luminaries as Mark Hawkins, Bill Youngman and Neil Landstrumm who were keen to find new supporters and outlets for their unique styles, which resulted in further Feinwerk releases and wider DJ support. In 2006 Christian started the ìSnork Enterprisesî label, to showcase a deeper, more groovy style, introducing the label with two of his own productions, going under the name of ìSnorkî, the result being ìScuba Diving Tycoonî. The label went on to become a great success, featuring many well known artists like Jens Zimmermann, Radio Slave, Cristian Vogel and Patrick Lindsey, and many of the releases were finding their way into world class DJ's boxes, culminating in the inclusion of Cristian Vogel's ìMungoî on Magda's Fabric mix CD. Christian then decided he needed an outlet for 21st Century driving techno sounds, that took something from the minimal sound, but gave it a bit more oomph for the dancefloor. The result was ìRelax 2000î, the first release coming from Remute, a Hamburg based artist who had already become a well known mover and shaker on the minimal Techno scene. Already up to a lot releases, ìRelax 2000î is going from strength to strength. Christian's own sound as Syntax Error favours deep wobbly basslines and harsh snares, FM tones and drones, deep bass drums and tricky percussion. He's produced over 10 different 12î releases on his own and has had his music featured on other labels such as ìBombtrapî, ìKugelboxî and ìGrowth Recordingsî, as well as also remixing Cristian Vogel and Samklang on Snork, along with remixes of Dave Tarrida and Tobias Schmidt on Feinwerk . Aside from his alter ego ìSnork ñ The scuba diving tycoonî he also produces with Istanbul based Tufan Dagetin as ìDagtetkin & Schachtaî as featured on Snork 12 and Snork 18.
