Scott McGinlay - Biography

SCOTT MCGINLAY Born in Glasgow April 3rd 1975. Scott was 15 years old when he mixed his first records in public in the Summer of 1990. 'Hardcore Uproar' by Together was number one in the charts, setting firm foundations for a thriving scene in the early 90's. He started in PR and quickly talked his way into the Dj box, ultimately co-running and becoming a resident for the club Fury Murrys from 1989 to 1994 & alongside Carl Cox, Dyewitness (Misjah), Ultrasonic, TTF, Dream Frequency, Bass Generator, Opus 3, Love Decade, Rozalla, N'joi, Oceanic, Marc Smith, Q-tex, Farley Jack Master Funk, Felix, Hyper-GoGo, Speedy J, Lenny Dee and so many more .... The Dj'ing journey had begun, playing at The Metro in Melbourne at new year of 1995/96 he then moved to Mallorca and played clubs all round the island for a year. The following summer season brought bookings for Ibiza's (then) Star Club and various bars and back in Glasgow he started a residency for the Sly @ the legendary Tunnel club in 1997. This turned out to be a massive residency the for what turned out to be the largest Student ‘house' night in Scotland for over 6 years. With regular visits to Ibiza over the following years playing Es Paradis and Savanah Bar and boat parties, he continued to play local bars and clubs until 2003. It was a natural progression from being a Dj & club promoter that saw Scott study music production at SAE college & then start Highrise Records with the aim to create a platform for himself and like minded talented producers to show their skills to the world… The beginning.
