Holgi Star - Biography
Holgi Star came to Berlin in 1989 and got to know every angle of techno-culture. Initially, he worked for the the Frontpage, which at that time was the most influential print medium on the scene. In the mid-90's, he founded Timing Records, which was one of the pioneers in breakbeat music. Since then, he has also made his name as the great man behind the Berlin labels Kiddaz.fm, Stylerockets, Rompecabeza, Micro.fon and Playmate Music. As a producer, Holgi Star draws from the musical treasure trove of the past 20 years. In addition to numerous solo productions he has released tons of music with DJ Emerson, Dave Shokh, Tony Rohr und Holger Flinsch- appearing with the latter as 'Flinch n' Nielsen'. Currently, Holgi Star produces his sound with his homie, friend, and bro Harry Axt aka Daniel Steinberg, whom he discovered and promoted on his labels Kiddaz.fm and Rompecabeza. In 2003 his Debut album "Starwars" hit like a bomb world-wide. In Japan there was truly mass hysteria among the club-goers and thousands set the title track of the album as the ringtone on their mobile phones. With a 15-city club tour of Brazil, Holgi Star also established a foothold in South America. Even with all of these tours, he never neglected his studio work. The doctors of techno such as Sonic Groove owner Frankie Bones, Evil C, and Dave the Hustler also fully enjoyed a Holgi Star remix (Rock'n'Roll-Übermensch). On his 2008 mix-CD "Roadtrip", Holgi Star is at his best. His style? Full-on techno with a lot of soul. A super DJ- one cannot say otherwise.
